Hello Spiritual Beings!
I’m Ash, the creative mind, photographer, and owner of Kore Design Co.

Growing up Kentucky, I always felt a deep connection to the outdoors. Whether it was researching bugs, bones, and fossils or simply getting my hands dirty in the soil, nature has always been my inspiration. As a neurodivergent child fascinated by anthropology, I often felt out of place in my small community. Art and creativity became my solace, even though my unconventional approach to art wasn’t always encouraged.

After years of setting my artistic passion aside, I found my calling as an entrepreneur and photographer during college. I embraced photography as a way to express myself creatively and spend time outdoors. But when the pandemic hit in 2020, my photography business came to a halt, leading me to a period of reflection and rediscovery. It was through spirituality and art that I found healing, which ultimately gave birth to Kore Design Co.

Today, I bring my love of nature and creativity to life through Kore Design Co’s unique pieces. You can find me at pop-up events across the Southeast, sharing my art and connecting with others. With each piece I create, I aim to tell a story and inspire others to find beauty and meaning in nature. I’m excited to see where this journey continues to take me!

Ethics & Sustainability

At Kore Design Co, ethics and sustainability are central to everything we create. We are deeply committed to honoring the environment by using ethically sourced and recycled materials in all our products.

This commitment extends to supporting small businesses that share our values. We carefully source our display materials through thrifting with local shops, breathing new life into pre-loved items. The flowers we use are purchased from local florists, ensuring that we contribute to the community while celebrating nature’s beauty. Our crystals and bones are sourced responsibly, with a focus on ethical practices that respect the natural world.

We aim to connect all individuals with the beauty of nature while educating and honoring the origins and beliefs associated with our materials. By supporting other small businesses, we are able to provide unique and intentional pieces that resonate with others while keeping our environmental impact low.

Frequently asked questions

What is an Oddity?

Oddities are collectible items that fall into specific categories:

Taxidermy & European Mounts: Preserved animal specimens mounted for display.

Wet Specimens: Organisms preserved in liquid solutions.

Entomology: Preserved insects and arachnids.

Bones: Skeletal remains and bone specimens.

Dried Flowers: Preserved botanical specimens.

Antiques: Objects of historical age and value.

Medical Items: Historical medical instruments and anatomical specimens.

Historical Pieces: Objects with documented historical significance.

What are unethical Oddities?

Bats: Bats are protected under international conservation laws, including the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Many bat species face extinction due to habitat loss, disease, and climate change. Collecting or trading bat specimens—whether living or preserved—is illegal in most jurisdictions without permits. Additionally, bats are crucial for ecosystem health, controlling insect populations and pollinating plants. Their removal from natural populations disrupts ecological balance and violates wildlife protection statutes.

Human Remains: The possession and trade of human remains raise profound ethical and legal concerns. Most countries have laws prohibiting the unauthorized collection, sale, or display of human remains. These laws exist to protect human dignity, respect cultural and religious beliefs, and prevent grave desecration. Human remains are considered the property of descendants or cultural groups, not commodities.

Animal Poaching: Poaching is the illegal hunting and capture of endangered and protected animals. This devastating practice threatens species with extinction, disrupts ecosystems, and fuels criminal networks. Many animals are poached for their skins, bones, organs, and other body parts used in illegal trade.

Kore's Commitment: At Kore Design Co, we are firmly committed to never working with materials sourced from poached animals or unethical sources. Every specimen in our collection is sourced responsibly and legally. We partner only with small farms and suppliers who adhere to international wildlife protection laws and ethical standards. Your purchase supports our mission to celebrate natural oddities while protecting endangered species and our planet.
